I hereby quit my 365 project.

Honestly it was getting me nowhere and failing at it was just another burden (such a strong word, ain’t it? See, my life has been going downhill lately, so I get away with saying a failed 365 blog is a burden) I got better at editing, though, specially the last few months… yes, when I didn’t upload that much… But I was working backstage, honest!

Anyway, the blog stays cuz I like it and plan to keep it up. I still love photography (as always), I am still stuck in my traveling ways… ergo, I’m still a Stuck Traveler. Yay for me!

Yeah, another one.

One of the cities of Puebla, Cholula, is said to have 365 churches: one to celebrate in each day of the year.

Or so the legend goes...

... Of course, if you ever go to Cholula or even Puebla, the state (there's also a city by that name) you'll see the legend is not far from reality as in some places you can find a church in virtually every block.

You never know what you're gonna get when you travel to a new place.

That's one of the things I enjoy the most, actually.

This is my very teeny tiny bathroom in Morelia, the hotel was beautiful but this little number made it almost impossible to take a bath and not die by suffocation. I kid you not, you literally had to get dressed extra super fast and jump out the door for air.

Also, the entire floor flooded whenever you used the shower.

But the hotel was indeed beautiful in and out; besides it was just our luck, our fellow travelers had very spacious facilities only a couple rooms away from ours.

This are THE best gummy creatures I've ever tasted. And I've eaten my fare share of gummy animals.

Día de los Muertos could be my favorite Mexican holiday.

Not sure why, maybe 'cuz it kinda marks the beginning of the winter holidays with a joyous Mexican feast.

I love Pan de Muerto (yeah, it kinda sounds creepier than it is), the sugar skulls (I guess you can call'em that) and specially the traditional sweets with many funny exotic names.

Have I mentioned I love food?

You know, I was born in May (won't disclose the date, not a big fan of getting-old celebrations) and with my birthday getting closer and closer I got to thinking what to do about it.

I came up with the oh-so-original idea of making the posts more personal displaying pictures from my life with no restriction as to when they were taken, not caring how long ago or why, what they mean, the composition or lighting... nothing but the mere fact that they were taken by me.

Yeah, turns out I've seen better Aprils.

I haven't been taking a lot of photos, but I've been editing a lot of old shots. Why? Honing my skills, I guess, the point of this blog is not to recycle shots, so I won't post them here. And since Deviant Art makes me feel self conscious (hahah) I won't post most of them there either.

So, I'm still alive and kicking, just haven't been producing much.

Bear with me, people, I lost my Muse...

I'm going through a period in my life and after much consideration (not that much) I decided to take the rest of the month off. It was gonna be just one week but you know how it is, don't you?

So, the month ends just in time to try something different regarding my self-critique. Through march I won't be doing it, this would be the last time for quite a while and all I have to say is...

• This one is way.too.red.
• Thumbs up for the lack of obviousness.
• I kinda likethe composition this time, hah
• But yeah, too much redness, specially after the grungy shot a couple o'days ago.

And there it is.

Rainy night.

And a window.

• I really liked the colors on this one, almost enough to make me overlook the non-focusing aspect of this. Almost...
• Couldn't decide whether to give it a dreamier look with softer colors (my first idea) or "harsher", darker colors which made the drops stand out beautifully. I chose the latter somewhat missing the dreaminess I was looking for in the first place.

Kinda grungy, uh?

• Apparently exporting it to a smaller size translates into loss of detail (obviously) and somehow loss of brightness.
• Probably should've redone it in a brighter shade but that makes it lose "grungyness", less charcoal-y detail to put it some way.

Back road through the rear-view mirror.

Had the colors been brighter, it would've looked like something out of a famous brit movie director picture.

• Colors can entirely change the feeling, can't they? Not sure I like the colors on this one but part I wanted an over exposed image, part people won't paint their fences/walls/houses/what not on brighter shades.
• Seriously considering painting fences candy apple red and electric blue by myself but I don't think people would appreciate it much.

• Trying my hand at vintage-y sepia and not sure, could be sepiaer don't you think?
• Don't quite like the texture on the background wall but the little vases were hanging from there and I don't think moving them would've been well received.
